Michael Santoli

As Senior Columnist at Yahoo! Finance, Michael Santoli writes analysis and commentary on the stock market, corporate news and the economy. He also appears on "The Daily Ticker" on Yahoo! Finance, where he offers insights on the most important business stories of the day.

He has covered the Wall Street beat for 20 years, and is well known for his 15 years as a columnist and feature writer for Barron’s magazine, and his frequent guest appearances on cable and broadcast news programs. He is an on-air contributor to CNBC as part of its partnership with Yahoo Finance.

Before joining Yahoo! Finance last month, Santoli wrote Barron's “Streetwise," a column that offered a forward-looking take on the financial markets, illuminated market trends and identified investment opportunities.  Previously, he wrote  “The Trader” column, which covered the stock market and investment trends. As the magazine's mutual funds editor,  he wrote the “Fund of Information” column, edited the quarterly mutual-fund pullout sections and wrote cover stories for the magazine. As a staff writer, he wrote "Commodities Corner" and later, the "Striking Price" column covering the securities industry.

Mr. Santoli joined Dow Jones & Company in 1993 as a reporter for the Dow Jones News Service, covering the securities industry.  Before joining Dow Jones, he worked in New York as a reporter/editor for Investment Dealers' Digest.

Mr. Santoli has received two Dow Jones Newswires Awards for distinguished real-time journalism. In 1995, he was a member of a team honored for a series of stories on the demise of D. Blech & Co., and in 1996, he and a colleague received an award for their coverage of the securities industry.

Born in Manhasset, N.Y., Mr. Santoli received a bachelor's degree in history from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.

Susan Everingham, Director - RAND 

Susan Everingham joined RAND in 1988, and became the Director of RAND's Pittsburgh office in 2008. This office, established in 2001, is the homd for nearly 200 staff members who work across RAND's business units and support activities.

As Pittsburgh office director, Susan helps develop RAND's local research agenda and manages RAND's outreach activites. She has also become very involved in the Pittsburgh community, including serving as a fellow of the University of Pittsburgh's Institute of Politics and on the boards of the Wrold Affairs Council of Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Economy League of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania, the Carnegie Science Center, POWER, and the Regional indicators project.

Susan's research career includes a diverse array of studies, mainly in the defense and criminal justice policy areas. Her current work is focused on assisting countries around the globe to develop thier military forces and defense institutions, and on measuring illicit drug use trends in the United States. Previously, she directed RAND's International Programs, which supports RAND's globalization agenda, and served in serveral other management roles in RAND's National Security Research Division. She earned a B.A. in mathematics and biology from Williams College, and an M.A. in Applied Mathematics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
