Presenter - Dennis Zeitler - Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Born and raised in East Brady, Pennsylvania, Mr. Zeitler is one of seven children. He attended East Brady Area schools (as well as Saint Fidelis Seminary in Herman, Pennsylvania) and graduated in 1966. He attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
After one year at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and another year employed by the Isaly Company of Pittsburgh to computerize their accounting systems, Mr. Zeitler joined the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Pittsburgh. Although his initial employment at the Bank was in the field of economics, he soon joined the Treasurer’s staff and hence began his career in finance. During his five years with the FHLB, Mr. Zeitler attended the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Business, earned a Masters in Business Administration, and was promoted to Assistant Treasurer.
In 1977 Mr. Zeitler joined MSA as Manager of Financial Services, a new position at the company necessitated by the dramatic growth resulting from passage of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). His career grew with the company from Manager; to Assistant Treasurer; to Treasurer; to Vice President and Treasurer; to Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in 2000. During these thirty five years, MSA’s global sales of safety products grew from less than $175 million to nearly $1.2 billion. The market value of MSA’s common stock grew from less than $50 million to over $1.5 billion and culminated in listing MSA on the New York Stock Exchange in 2004.
As CFO Mr. Zeitler is responsible for the accurate accounting of the company’s business, the numerous independent audits of such accounting, all reports filed with the SEC, IRS and NYSE, financial analysis, tax planning and tax compliance globally, treasury management, enterprise risk management, property and casualty insurance, working capital, investments, debt, management reporting and internal audit. Global Strategic Pricing and Business Development also report directly to Mr. Zeitler. In addition, he oversees several MSA pension funds, is actively involved with investor relations, real estate management, the Cranberry Woods office park and the MSA Charitable Foundation.
Mr. Zeitler has been active in the local community and nationally, having served as a director of Pittsburgh CLO, Financial Executives International, the National Kidney Foundation, the Pittsburgh/Cleveland Pension Group and the Economics Club of Pittsburgh. He currently serves as Chairman of the Regional Learning Alliance and is Past President of the Butler County Community Development Corporation.
Dennis, his wife Jennifer and young daughter, Chiara, reside in Renfrew, Pennsylvania. Dennis also has two daughters working in New York City, a son working in Canonsburg, PA, and two young granddaughters.
